Robert Shaw (30 April 1916 – 25 January 1999) was indisputably one of the most significant choral directors of his generation.

During his long career, Shaw's focus on the pre-rehearsal warm-up was famed. It concentrated in particular on accuracy of tuning, homogeneity of colour of choral tone and blend and control of the full range of dynamics available to the choir. Shaw remains to this day one of the most influencial of all choral practitioners and we can still learn a great deal from his techniques.

Chorus America has brought together a number of his warm-ups which we thought you might find of interest.
