We are delighted to announce Timothy Stephens from the US as a new composer in College Choral Series. His beautiful setting of the James Joyce text 'At this hour when all things have repose' is written in a truly contemporary choral style and we hope that your choir will enjoy performing it. See also his 'Celtic Invocation' for SATB a cappella choir based on an old Scottish prayer.
Timothy has taught music theory and composition in the northwest at Pacific University in Oregon since 1990. He is best known for being a writer of vocal music which includes nearly seventy art songs and choral works mostly on American poets. Art song collections include Letters to the World (Ten Songs on Poems of Emily Dickinson), Houses of Dreams (Nine Songs on poems of Sara Teasdale), Flames and Shadows (Eight Songs on Teasdale, Rossetti and Yeats) and Six Baritone Songs (on poems of Teasdale, Williams and Yeats) as well as Ransom!! (An Almost Comic Opera in One Act). He has received awards/commissions from numerous sources including the Arts Council of Ireland, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Cincinnati Camerata along with several individual commissions.
