Suite of Irish Christmas Carols - Shaun Davey

Shaun Davey's Suite of Irish Christmas Carols was first performed in St. Patrick's Cathedral Dublin on 30th November 2010. Arranged for solo singer, accordion, mixed choir and orchestra the suite consists of four carols:

1. The Joys of Mary Shaun Davey's original melody and uplifting orchestration gives the solo singer,choir and orchestra a joyous setting for the traditional verses listing the seven joys of Mary. The orchestration includes a featured part for accordion.

2. Carol of the Birds Traditional words set to original music arranged for solo voice, choir and orchestra. In this atmospheric carol the birds around the crib serenade the new-born Jesus.

3. Happy the Child This carol describes events surrounding the nativity and builds to a climax with a series of elegant, stately choruses.

4. The Moon shines bright Traditional words set to original music by Shaun Davey and arranged for solo voice, choir and orchestra with featured part for accordion. This rousing carol compares the temporary nature of our existence with the everlasting spirit of Jesus.
