The Adoration of the Magi (SATB div.) - Tim Stephens $2.75
William Butler Yeats ends his short story The Adoration of the Magi with the narrator describing a centuries old Gaelic prayer…" when I pray against the demons I repeat a prayer which was made I know not how many centuries ago to help some poor Gaelic man or woman who had suffered with a suffering like mine.”. The ancient prayer is presented for female voices and solo violin followed by The Magi for string orchestra, piano and choir. Yeats’ Magi “appear and disappear” in modern times, with “their ancient faces like rain-beaten stones”. They continue to search and wait for Christ’s second coming with their “eyes still fixed, hoping, hoping”. The Magi will remain “the unsatisfied ones” until they “find once more, the uncontrollable mystery on the bestial floor.” This piece is available in three versions for download in PDF format: 1. Choir, String Orchestra and Piano 2. Choir, Solo Violin and Piano 3. Choir with Piano accompaniment (MINIMUM ORDER 10 VOCAL SCORES) This new choral series features on the recordings Invisible Stars Perpetual Twilight and Be all Merry
