Fanny Hawke -Shaun Davey

Fanny Hawke was composed by Shaun Davey in 1992 and orchestrated in 2008. It is a song for solo female vocalist, guitar, keyboards and medium-size orchestra plus optional male choir and part for traditional low whistle (duration ca. 4 minutes). The lyrics are based on a poem by Sebastian Barry which tells the story of a young woman’s decision to leave her island community in order to start a new life on the mainland.
